Story
We are aiming to raise money for charity and we welcome any contribution, great or small, that you could make!
Date of Event: 19th to 26th February & 14th April to 20th September
What is The Long Road (TLR): "The Long Road" is a bicycle tour being undertaken by two mates (Jason & Garry) from Australia to support both Cancer and Parkinson's Disease research.
Jason's father was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease in 2003, this is what initially sparked the idea behind the tour, having seen firsthand the effects of PD on a family member and how it is viewed and often misunderstood by the general public.
For the average person the term "The Long Road" is the seamlessly never-ending road to a destination. That long straight section of highway.... To some it's the journey we call life with its everyday struggles and decision making. Simple things like what's for lunch or dinner or when the next train is.
For a large number of PD sufferers, it is the battle to simply get through to the end of the day. It is these people that know the true meaning of "The Long Road" and it is to these people that this is dedicated to.
For us "The Long Road" is from Ballarat, Victoria, Australia, to Eindhoven, Netherlands via the United States, Europe and the UK. 13,000+km, 13 countries, 3 continents. All completed by bicycle to raise funds and awareness of these two debilitating diseases.

Parkinson's NSW Limited
Parkinson’s NSW is a for-purpose organisation striving to make life better for people living with Parkinson’s, their carers, families and communities. It is the peak body for the Parkinson’s community of NSW.
It provides essential services including counselling, Support Groups, an InfoLine staffed by Parkinson’s Registered Nurses, community-based Parkinson’s Specialist Nurses, education, NDIS advocacy and fundraising for research. Its mission is to enhance the quality of life of people affected by Parkinson’s, while working towards a cure.
